My Background
Personal Profile
There is a story behind every person's journey. After experiencing cancer as a caregiver and a patient, I resolved to help others. Becoming an advocate blends well with my commitment to cancer advocacy and educational background, which includes a Doctorate from Albany Medical College, specializing in Health Policy and Biomedical Ethics. Moreover, a Master of Public Health focused on Maternal and Child Health.
My experience as a breast cancer patient and caregiver to my husband, who passed due to metastatic head and neck cancer, allows me to comprehend the needs of patients and caregivers.
I represent patients and caregivers on the U.S. Federal Drug and Administration's Patient Engagement Collaborative, the National Cancer Institute's NCI Technology Research Advocacy Partnership, the Clinical Research Advocacy program, and the Department of Defense to advance high-impact cancer research and funding.
In addition, I volunteer with Moffitt Cancer Center and the National Coalition of Cancer Survivorship's Cancer Policy and Advocacy Team. My work with these groups includes meeting with state and federal legislators to advance cancer health policy.
